The Many Faces of a Casino
In all situations that include social gatherings, certain behaviors are assumed from casino participants and others that are deemed unconventional.
Style-wise, the main difference between French and European gambling is in the anticipations of how the players are dressed. French and several foreign casinos require their players a rather relaxed mode of clothing than seen in casinos in the United States.
Since Las Vegas pioneered the trend for all casino gambling, the American dress code in casinos, apparently, has a more Western touch.
The same applies in Atlantic City as well. One is expected to dress whatever pleases him or her though. In the evening, you can easily see some elegant outfits worn in American casinos; you are not, however, expected to follow suit.
Besides betting money - what else does a gambler do at a craps table? In Europe, one will find that interaction among people is controlled; even though no drinking at the tables rule is complied, as noted.
Communication prevails even at the tables surrounded with serious, almost stern-looking gamblers. This can either be a menace or pleasing to one's sight - depends on the individual's take on gambling, really.
Conversation is often pointed out as the downfall of gamblers - from counting cards to attempting to analyze every bet. As a gambler, if you are exerting an effort to work on such system, at least choose a table that is away from the crowd, at least. Also, try not to let anyone distract you by the dealer, or the players themselves.
If you are gambling just for fun and want to know more folks, a table where there's a relaxing ambiance does it all good. The fundamental styles and mood of any table is organized by the dealer or croupier.
In New Jersey or Nevada, there is an extensive range of styles, due to the fact that there are plenty of gamblers - in class, and the house hopes to accommodate them all.
Several dealers have this inscrutable look of concentration, apparent hostility, or plain boredom written in their faces. Some French croupiers sport the bored look, and that is common in them.
Some dealers grin at you like you are his long-lost college buddy, and proceeds to chat with you all throughout the game, though. At the other table, the crowd gathered there may be as friendly with each other while the other table may look like a serious meeting is taking place.
These scenarios are quite commonly seen in casinos all over the world.
